Pixie and Brutus is one of those web comics you can’t help reading with a big grin if not a chuckle. These two delightful critters have awarded their creator, Ben Hed a massive 1.4M Instagram following.
Ben is comfortable now that he has got a huge fan base as he says
“I do worry about each comic’s performance. But I worried about that before I created Pixie and Brutus too.
“I always wanted to do better,” he added.
As he thinks of other ways to spruce up his series, he let us in on his newest plans to amaze fans; “I’m in the process of getting some pixie and Brutus plushies. Not sure when they’ll be ready, but I’m pretty excited to release them!”
If you’ve not heard about the comic, maybe we couldn’t give you a quick tour about the two.
Pixie is a tiny, joyful, energetic kitten. An innocent fluff who’s oblivious to the serious, dangerous stuff happening around her. On the other hand, Brutus is a large, scar-faced German Shepherd. Pixie’s owner adopted him after Brutus retired as a Military Working Dog (MWD). You could say Brutus is, in many ways, the exact opposite of Pixie.
As their creator puts it, “He’s a very serious and intimidating military dog, but he has a soft spot for pixie and does what he can do to protect her from the harsh realities of the world around them.
The owner has now made this his full-time job, working every week working on his series.
“Illustration is what I love, and I’m incredibly lucky and grateful that I actually get paid to do it!”
